Jewel Changi Airport  

Lifestyle Destination – World’s Highest Waterfall

For the third year running, Singapore Changi Airport has been nominated for the World’s Best Airport.
Now an iconic new structure of steel and glass, Jewel Changi Airport, will further enrich the terminal landscape. In line with Singapore’s reputation as a garden city, this extension of Changi Airport will house a five-storey forest valley and the world’s highest indoor waterfall, the “Rain Vortex”, which is breathtaking 40 m high.

At the same time, Jewel is envisaged to be a world-class lifestyle destination to boost Singapore’s appeal for travelers. The ambitious project was designed by a consortium of consultants comprising Safdie Architects and the local architects RSP. 

MERO, with a long history of involvement in the various stages of expansion and refurbishment the terminals of Changi Airport have undergone so far, will construct the single layer roof and façade structure of Jewel as a unitized system of star nodes and square profiles.

Jewel is the largest single layer structure ever built worldwide.

The completion of MERO’s scope has been planned for the beginning of 2018. Based on decades of experience in the field of elementized building systems MERO once again realizes a unique milestone in the history of architecture.
